2019 Track and Field Day Updates:
Track and Field Day is a highly-anticipated, all-school event, held each year towards the end of May. There are over a dozen fun events, ranging from the traditional sprints and jump rope to the crazy shoe kick and watermelon-seed-spit! These events take place on the Armatage Field adjacent to the school and Armatage Community Center. There are two sessions of events, divided into the different grades. To make this event successful each year, we rely on Armatage families to volunteer at the various event stations to help with tasks such as: measuring distances, timing runners, and cheering on our student participants. Often parents sign up for volunteer slots during one session (morning or afternoon) and watch / cheer their kids during the other.
8:30-10:15 am ... Field Events for PreK, K, 1st, and 2nd Grades 11:30-1:30 pm ... Field Events for 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades
The morning session is for PreK through 2nd grades. PreK and Kindergarten’s field day events are supervised by 5th grade volunteers. First and second grade events are supervised by parent volunteers. Parent and family volunteers also run event stations in the afternoon session, which is when 3rd, 4th and 5th graders participate. All volunteers check-in prior to the events to receive instructions for the events they’re volunteering at and for any extra equipment.
All volunteers are notified by 7:00am the day of Track and Field if the event is postponed due to rain. The event’s rain date is scheduled the following day.
