Robocall from Principal Franks - A Heartfelt Announcement
Thursday, February 4, 2021 11:45 AM

Good morning Armatage Families,

This is Joan Franks calling to share some information with you regarding a heartfelt decision I shared with Brian Zambreno, Associate Superintendent on January 20th.  Back in November, my husband was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis better known as ALS or Lou Gehrigs disease. As you can imagine, our world was turned upside down.  We spent the next two months discussing whether or not I felt I could continue to be the Armatage Principal and simultaneously support his health needs as we take this unexpected journey together.  At the end of the day, I feel Armatage needs a Principal who can give 110% energy and focus to the school and I know that will not be possible moving forward.  To this end, I submitted my retirement notification to the district two weeks ago that will go into effect at the end of the school year.  This morning, I shared this information with the staff and wanted you to hear it directly from me.  Being the Principal of Armatage School for the past 23 years has been an honor and privilege.  I can not imagine having had a better school and community to humbly serve.  Thank you and all the staff, students and families who have shared in my journey as I cannot be more grateful and honored to have worked with you.

In the near future, Brian Zambreno will communicate with you the selection process that will be used to select a new Principal for Armatage.

On June 30th, I will close the door to my past, open the door to my future, take a deep breath, and step through into a new life.  Thank you again for allowing me to be a part of your child’s education, it has been an honor.
