Principal Franks Letter 10/2/20
Saturday, October 3, 2020 7:20 PM

Good afternoon Armatage Families,

Happy October to everyone!  This is Joan Franks calling to check in with you and provide information regarding several things.

First and foremost, I hope you are well and that your kids are adjusting to Distance Learning.  I know this has been a huge challenge for everyone involved, but it feels reassuring to know our students and staff are not being exposed to Covid-19.

Kelsey Barsness, is our new school nurse here at Armatage and has asked that I share with you that The Minnesota Department of Health, also known as MDH, recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get a flu vaccine every year. Getting a flu vaccine helps protect you from getting the flu and prevents you from passing it to people who could get very sick.

Armatage is not offering a flu shot clinic this year but there are several other easy ways to get your flu vaccine.  Start with your doctor’s office or clinic.  If your regular clinic is unable to vaccinate you, try your local pharmacy or Minute Clinic.  If you need more information, please visit the MDH website and search for Influenza.

We have scheduled this Tuesday, October 6th from 10:30 a.m. to  4:00 p.m. for the next materials pick-up at the front of the building by the flagpole or better known as Door #5.  Materials you will receive include but are not limited to:

  • Hula Hoops

  • Grs  3 – 5 Science kits

  • Art materials

  • Grade level magazines such as Time for Kids

  • And other grade level specific materials that teachers may include in the bags

When you come to pick up your supplies, there will be a library book return cart.  We are still missing 185 books from last March.  Nancy Dobbratz will be sending emails next week to remind families of what book is still missing.  Also, please check the Family Distance Learning page for the Media link.  There are books to listen to ad fun thing you can do at home.

As distance learning continues, we will facilitate periodic supply pick-up events.  My hope is that we can limit them to no more than once a month but depending on when things are delivered to us from vendors, we will get them out to you.

Thank you to everyone for all you are doing to help make Distance Learning work for our kids.  I came across this quote and it made me think about a great way to continue dealing with all this change
