Spotlight Volunteer: Keith Swanson

How long have you been a parent at Armatage?
We have been parents of Armatage students for seven years. Sonya, our oldest, is a sixth-grader at Anthony Middle School. Audrey is in fourth grade in Ralph’s class.

What volunteer roles have you been involved in at Armatage and how did you get involved?
I have been involved with school patrol, drop-off in the back parking lot, cooking on the fifth-grade field trip, helping students and teacher in the classroom, and with the Site Council. I became involved with volunteering by just letting the teachers and staff know if they needed help to tell me. Stacy Katzovitz was the bravest person when she thought it would be a good idea for me to help out with a couple students. I was apprehensive at first but it turned out to be a good experience for me.

Why do you volunteer and what have you gained from volunteering at Armatage?
Because of the teachers and staff. I admire their work ethic and dedication. In my opinion, they work hard to make it a safe and positive experience for the students. If there is some small way I can help make it a positive experience for the students, count me in!
