Houdek Receives Award of Excellence

Fourth and fifth grade classroom teacher Christian Houdek was surpised at a special assembly on April 6th. He was notified that he is a recipient of a 2016 WEM Outstanding Educator Award for Teacher Achievement. The honor is accompanied by a $15,000 award.

Houdek is one of six educators being honored by the WEM Foundation and Synergy & Leadership Exchange for outstanding accomplishments and contributions to student learning. He is one of two recipients of the WEB Foundation's statewide Teacher Achievement Award, which recognizes exemplary teachers who support, inspire, and assist students to attain greater learning as evidenced by student achievement.

Christian has been teaching for 18 years. In addition to his role on the 4/5 teaching team, he has been teaching graduate level Montessori math courses at UW-River Falls for the last three years.

Principal Franks praised Houdek: "Christian is a master teacher who understands the importance of differentiation, visioning for each individual student's success, and strategies to ensure every child can reach their full potential under his guidance."
