To the families of Armatage School:

In the upcoming days, first quarter report cards will be mailed out to families.  As everyone is aware, this first quarter of distance learning has brought forth a significant amount of anxiety for everyone - student, staff and parents alike.  As you review your student’s report cards, please take these items into consideration:

1. MPS report cards are Minnesota Standards based and are representative of grade level material.

2. Grades are based on qualitative and quantitative information gathered by teachers through formative assessments and daily work.  In this time of distance learning, teachers must base their grades on what they have seen from students in regards to their work and effort.

3. Report cards are a snapshot of a student’s progress at that current time for families.  They are meant to be used as a communication tool to better create a partnership between home and school.

4. As you view the First Quarter Report Card that will soon be arriving in the mail, please keep in mind that the emphasis should be placed on progress throughout the year rather than a specific quarter grade.  Please look over the grading guidelines below.

5. Emphasis should be placed on progress throughout the year rather than a specific quarter grade.  Please look over the following grading guidelines.  The grading key is as follows:

1- Below Grade Level, requires intensive adult support.

2- Below Grade Level, but making good progress and developing independence.

3- Performing at Grade Level with independence.

4- Performing beyond Grade level Standards with independence

If you have any questions surrounding your students report card, please feel free to contact your classroom teacher directly.  Your student’s classroom teacher will be more than happy to clarify any concerns you may have.

Thank you for your continued support during distance learning.

SIncerely,

Joan Franks, Principal

Jasper Jonson, Asst. Principal
