Everyday Fundraising for Armatage

Did you know that shopping, eating, and running errands are easy ways to contribute to Armatage? Everyday fundraisers like collecting box tops, visiting a Wendy’s night, or shopping with a Target Red Card make a big difference to the school’s bottom line – about $10,000 altogether!

Here’s a look at the many ways you can help:

Box Tops for Education

Gold Medal Flour, Cheerios, Yoplait, and Ziploc are just a few of many products that quickly add up to money for the PTA to fund programs like Student of the Month. At $0.10 per top, Armatage clipped its way to approximately $1,000 last year. This year’s friendly school-wide competition should raise much more by next spring, considering we have already exceeded last year’s total by Thanksgiving! For more information, contact the parent Box Tops coordinator at: ArmatagePTA@gmail.com.

Target Red Card

Each fall, Target donates up to 1% of Red Card purchases (including online) to the school you designate. For 2013, the program generated nearly $8,000 for Armatage! Those dollars go directly into the school budget to be used as needed. In past years, this money has funded museum field trips for the Art Adventures program. Armatage gets Red Card dollars from 189 parents today – will you join them? Your Target cashier or service desk associate can help you get signed up.

Amazon Smile

AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support Armatage (or any other charitable organization) every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, everything is the same as with standard amazon, but with the added bonus that amazon will donate a portion of the purchase. To shop at AmazonSmile simply go to smile.amazon.com from the web browser on your computer or mobile device. You may also want to add a bookmark to AmazonSmile to make it even easier to return and start your shopping at AmazonSmile.

*** An important note: If you search for Armatage in the database of charities, you will see an entry for "Pta Minnesota Congress." This is the Armatage PTA. Click the "About" link to verify. We are working to change the language so it is more clear. But for now, trust that this is us! ***

Wendy’s Night

Every third Tuesday of the month, Armatage families take over Wendy’s on Hazelton Road (near Southdale). From 5:00 to 7:00 pm, 10% of sales go to the Armatage PTA – around $1,000 annually. This is a fun event for Armatage families to socialize. Past events have included face painting and balloons for the kids. Questions? Contact the Wendy's Night Coordinator via email at ArmatagePTA@gmail.com.

Drop your grocery receipt into the Armatage box at Kowalski’s (54th and Lyndale location only) on your way out the door and help raise money through the company’s Groceries for Good Causes program. Marketing Director Laurie Bell says each store has a set budget to divide between 15 schools or other local non-profits. Once a quarter, Kowalski’s cuts checks to the participants based on the number of receipts for each.

Corporate Matching

Many corporations match contributions to non-profits. Your company might match each dollar or a percentage of what you contribute. Donate through AchieveMpls at: (http://armatage.mpls.k12.mn.us/fundraising).

Achieve Minneapolis

Speaking of AchieveMpls, donate through this site any time! Simply specify the dollars to go directly to the Armatage school budget. Direct-to-school fundraising like this has made it possible in the past, for example, for our school to provide all-day Kindergarten to all families.

Armatage Adventures

It’s true that parent-led events such as sing-alongs, cookouts, and art classes don’t raise a ton of cash. But school support isn’t all about money – building community is a priceless enrichment for Armatage. And what’s more, your fee for fun goes directly to the PTA! For more information about the program, and to sign up for upcoming events, check out the Armatage Adventures webpage.

PTA Membership

You don’t have to attend monthly PTA meetings to join (although you are truly welcome any time), but your $15 fee (individual) or $20 (family) dues form the base of support for PTA members, all of whom are parents just like you, volunteering their time and energy to make Armatage great. More information about the PTA is online.
