Are you at risk of losing your housing due to Covid-19?


The city of Minneapolis has allocated $1 million to support families with students in the Minneapolis public schools from being evicted due to loss of income related to Covid-19.

Who is eligible?

  • Have a child enrolled in Minneapolis Public Schools

  • Total gross income (before taxes) of:

2 people: $40,000

3 people: $45,000

4 people: $50,000

5 people: $54,000

6 people: $58,000

7 people: $62,000

8 people: $66,000

(this represents 50% of area medium income; families with 30% or below will be prioritized)


When to apply: Wednesday, April 22 at 9:00 a.m. - Monday, April 27 at 12:00 noon.

Documents needed to apply:

  • Income for May 2019 through April 2020

  • Current monthly gross income

  • Amount of assistance needed to solve household’s current emergency

Eligible applicants will be referred to the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) to complete income, school attendance, and need verification.  Additional documentation may be required on a case by case basis.

In most cases, the maximum amount of assistance will not exceed $1,500 per household, but up to $2,000 will be available under extraordinary circumstances. Eligible expenses include: 

• rent payments (including back rent)

• utility payments 

• other housing stability related costs

Payments will be made directly to the rental property owner and/or utility company.
