Welcome to Room 104!
I have been teaching since 1991 and have been part of Minneapolis Public Schools since 1999. I graduated from Concordia College with degrees in Elementary Education and Sociology. In addition, I hold a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University and have completed coursework in Information Media from St. Cloud State University. I also have Montessori training. I have been at Armatage since 2007. I have experience teaching Grades K-4, and have been a Media Specialist for Grades K-8. Many eons ago, I was also a camp counselor.
Teaching Philosophy & Spotlight Unit
"Follow the child." This quote by Maria Montessori sums up my teaching philosophy. I believe in individualizing curriculum, building relationships and forming a community within the classroom, and celebrating each child as an individual.
As for my spotlight unit, this is too difficult a question for me-- it really is anything I am working on with the students!
A little about me
My husband, Ken, is a high school teacher in Roseville. My son, Joe, attends Armatage. I love reading, gardening, traveling, and anything outdoors!
