Track and Field Day is the highly anticipated event during the last days of school with students participating in athletic sports performed on the Armatage Park field. All events provide challenging fitness activities learned during gym class throughout the school year. Events range from the shoe kick, spitting watermelon seeds, hula hooping, jumping rope as well as various fun races!
Track and Field Day is filled with fourteen, fun events ranging from the traditional jumping rope to the crazy shoe kick and watermelon-seed-spit! These events take place on the Armatage Field adjacent to the school and Armatage Community Center. There are two sessions of events, divided into the different grades. To make this event successful each year, we rely on Armatage families to volunteer at the various event stations to measure distances, time runners, etc., and cheer on our students.
The Pre-K and Kindergarten’s field day takes place on the south side of Armatage’s fields with the 5th graders running the Pre-K and Kindergarten stations. The other morning session for the 1st and 2nd graders, take place on the north side of the fields. Parent and family volunteers run these stations as well as the afternoon session for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. All volunteers check-in prior to the events to receive instructions for the events they’re volunteering at and for any extra equipment.
All volunteers are notified by 7:00am the day of Track and Field if the event is postponed due to rain. The event’s rain date is scheduled the following day.
