Welcome to Room 111!

I have been teaching for over 20 years, and have been at Armatage since 2011. I have degrees. in Child Psychology and Elementary Education. I've taught every grade from first through sixth. I have also been a resource teacher for gifted and talented students and love to volunteer.

Teaching Philosophy

Teachers play a critical role in the development of children. We are responsible for providing students with all the necessary academic lessons and experiences. Also, the way we interact with children, minute by minute, has a strong influence on how they feel about themselves and how they participate in a community. Montessori education provides a wonderful and enriched environment. Giving students the opportunity to encounter concepts through specially-designed, hands-on materials within the classroom is key. Encouraging independence and offering choices are reflections of Montessori's method and philosophy.
