Spotlight Volunteer: Becky Dosse

Here are Becky's responses to some questions about her experience volunteering at Armatage.

How long have you been a parent at Armatage?
This is our sixth year at Armatage. My daughter is in fifth grade (Sue Gonyea's class) and my son is in second grade (Heidi Olsen's class)

What volunteer roles have you been involved in at Armatage and how did you get involved?
I have volunteered for a lot of things over the past six years. Some of the big things are chairing the Family Fun Walk for the past two years and being a room parent six years in a row. I like volunteering in the classroom, doing spelling tests, working with the kids, and going on field trips. I’ve also been a Kids on Broadway scene parent, coordinated Chipotle Night, and volunteered at other events in much smaller roles, including the book fair, carnival, Family Reading Night, book giveaway, and Tears and Cheers. I think that might be all.

Why do you volunteer and what have you gained from volunteering at Armatage?
I like volunteering because it keeps me involved with my children and keeps me in the loop as far as what's going on at school. It has allowed me to get to know my children's teachers, their friends, and their friends' parents. There are such great parent volunteers at Armatage, so that makes it fun too.
